Daniel Farke has ruled Lukas Nmecha out of Leeds United’s meeting with Crystal Palace at Elland Road on Saturday, while updating on Dan James and Sean Longstaff.
According to Leedsunited.news, Palace play in Europe on Thursday, 48 hours before kick-off, and are without six key players. Oliver Glasner has said he will make 11 changes.
Farke explained James will not need surgery, opting for conservative treatment, and is targeting around eight weeks before he can return to training, after which his sharpness will be assessed.
He added that Longstaff is progressing and working individually on the pitch, with reintegration into full training the first step and a few sessions required. Nmecha remains symptomatic and will miss the next game, so Farke expects to have the same group available on Saturday.
With Nmecha sidelined, Noah Okafor is expected to continue up front, even with Joel Piroe available. Farke must also decide whether to persist with 3-5-2 or revert to 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 as in recent games. It is likely he keeps the Brentford XI, with changes such as Ilia Gruev for Ao Tanaka seeming very unlikely, while Willy Gnonto may have to wait for a start.
