Daniel Farke voiced anger at being sent off after Leeds United’s defeat to Manchester City, with the club lodging an appeal.

“To pull out a red card and embarrass me in front of the whole world, I wasn’t happy,” he said. According to Leedsunited.news, it was the first red card of his 16-year managerial career.

The dismissal came at full time after Farke confronted referee Peter Bankes over the lack of stoppage time following a booking for time-wasting.

He said he jogged over to ask why seconds were not added and that the red card was shown before he could speak, insisting he used no foul language.

Leeds are appealing, believing the incident was an oversight, and plan to present evidence to the FA, including a request to review footage from the referee’s camera.

Farke added that a “clear and obvious mistake” should be overturned and, in his view, this incident met that standard.

Leeds sit six points above the relegation zone and view his touchline presence as important before facing Sunderland next. With a one-match ban under appeal, he looks set to be in the dugout for tonight’s meeting with the Black Cats at Elland Road.
