Daniel Farke will only address Mateo Joseph’s future once Leeds have finished their Premier League and FA Cup campaigns, while offering support after the loanee’s ACL injury.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 22-year-old suffered the knee injury last month at Mallorca, ending his season and ruling him out for several months.

The striker spent the campaign with the La Liga club after declining to join Leeds’ pre-season camp in Germany and requesting a return to Spain. He made 19 league starts and 10 substitute appearances, scoring two goals and supplying four assists. One assist set up the winner in a famous victory over Real Madrid in his final game before the injury.

Farke had disagreed with that pre-season stance, and his focus remains on the current squad. He will not discuss loan players, signings or recruitment until the season is completed, and he emphasised the need for a proper rehabilitation for Joseph. Mallorca are involved in the process and relations are good, while the mother club has its own view.

Joseph’s team-mates at Mallorca dedicated their win over Rayo Vallecano to him, with former Leeds colleagues also offering support online. A social media message from Joseph reflected on the halt to his routine, the need to learn to compete differently, be patient, trust the process and accept there will be good and not so good days.
