While it has been a quiet window in terms of arrivals at West Ham, the club have been actively trying to retain some of their prized assets.

It is reported that the Irons are set to offer the centre-back a significant bonus should the club achieve promotion, as well as a release clause should they not go up at the first attempt and add years to the duration.

Furthermore, the defender is expected to make a decision in the coming weeks as he has interest from Germany, Italy, Turkey and the Premier League.

The Greek enjoyed a stellar season at the London Stadium despite the club's relegation, hence why he was named Hammer of the Year, becoming a popular figure among fans.

Mavropanos was an assured presence within a leaky defence and made 49 interceptions in the Premier League, ranking him in the top four per cent of centre-backs in the division, according to Fotmob.

Not only that, but the 28-year-old was an attacking threat, particularly from set pieces, scoring three goals and notching an xG on target (xGOT) of 4.29, placing him in the top four per cent of players in his position for this metric.

If he remains at West Ham, then he would be regarded as one of the leading centre-backs in the Championship and, with Bowen supplying set-pieces, he would be primed to make a difference at both ends of the pitch.
