A labour court on Thursday ordered Corinthians to pay more than R$ 3 million to former full-back Daniel Marcos. The player said in a post that the move was about defending his rights and did not diminish his affection for the club.

Marcos came through Corinthians' academy and retired in early 2026, aged 23, after a serious right knee injury while with the under-20s. He recalled a path that included first-team appearances and Brazil call-ups.

The injury occurred against Grêmio in December 2020. He underwent three surgeries and had loans at Cianorte of Paraná and Ferroviário of Ceará, but struggled to achieve consistent fitness.

Corinthians terminated his contract in March 2024 and were required to pay R$ 131,000 in severance. He later joined Resende in Rio de Janeiro state, yet did not play, then announced his retirement in January.

His legal team argued the injury curtailed his career and sought R$ 5 million in damages. Corinthians will appeal, and the decision was delivered at first instance.
