Botafogo beat Cruzeiro 4-0 at Nilton Santos to rise from 11th to first in the Brasileirão and end a 14-match league winless run against Cruzeiro.
The breakthrough came in the 48th minute, when Danilo ran onto Arthur Cabral's through ball and finished low into the bottom right.
Neto kept Fogão in control with four saves as Zeiro pressed. Raposa produced 17 attempts but hit the target just four times. Fogão were clinical, scoring from five shots on target across 10 attempts.
Changes just past the hour sharpened the hosts. Substitute Matheus Martins drove in at the far post after a break led by Álvaro Montoro (76.). Nathan Fernandes then crossed for Danilo to glance in a header (85.). Artur capped it in the first minute of second half stoppage time with a composed finish from close range.
Five minutes were indicated at the end, and Fogão calmly saw the game out.
