Danilo leaves Brazil place open, backs youngsters despite Ancelotti’s 2026 assurance | OneFootball

Danilo has played down his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil plans, saying the present and future belong to the emerging youngsters after the win over Croatia.

The Flamengo defender was in the squad for both friendlies in the FIFA window. He stayed on the bench against France, then came on late versus Croatia and scored an own goal after a defensive mix-up. According to Coluna Do Fla, Ancelotti has already confirmed him for the 2026 World Cup.

He said the victory over Croatia was deserved for Brazil’s tactical organisation, technical quality and sacrifice, and that the group can still grow. He praised the energy of the young players and stressed the team is theirs rather than his.

Despite the own goal, Danilo remains one of Ancelotti’s trusted options for the national side.

After the international window, Danilo and Brazil’s other call-ups return to Flamengo. Leonardo Jardim will have them available against Bragantino on Thursday in the ninth round of the Brasileirão.
