Danilo, on Flamengo’s radar, has a strong chance of not playing again for Botafogo before the World Cup. He is wary of injury and another Brasileirão appearance would prevent a move to another Brazilian club.

O Globo reports that the choice over whether to select him rests with head coach Franclim Carvalho. Inside the club, some directors have urged the coach not to use him.

Tensions have also grown between Botafogo and the player’s camp. His representatives are unhappy about overdue payments owed to the midfielder and to the agents.

Flamengo are interested in signing Danilo. Even so, any deal is unlikely to be simple, as Palmeiras also want the midfielder after the World Cup.

While monitoring his situation, Flamengo focus on their Libertadores match against Estudiantes of Argentina on Wednesday 20 at the Maracanã, kick-off 21:30 Brasília time.
