Danilo enters a decisive week over his Botafogo future as he and his representatives step up talks after the World Cup. According to Globo.com, the club need sales and favour an overseas deal to avoid strengthening a domestic rival.

The club initially sought around 40 million euros after the World Cup, but sparse minutes under Carlo Ancelotti have tempered expectations. Even so, Botafogo are not considering bids below 30 million euros.

Danilo's camp currently sees a domestic switch as likelier. Palmeiras have offered R$ 120 million, about 20.5 million euros, plus defender Naves, lodged weeks ago to stake their claim. His muted Nottingham Forest spell counts against him and Europe may not match that figure.

Zenit and Fulham have shown interest, with enquiries from other European clubs. Newcastle, discussing Bruno Guimarães with Arsenal and sharing Danilo's agents, are monitoring him, though a move now is seen as difficult on cost. A Premier League return remains possible, and a prior bar on a short-term big six move no longer applies after John Textor's exit.

In Brazil, Danilo prioritises Palmeiras. They could raise their bid, though reaching 30 million euros is unlikely. Flamengo are viewed as financially capable, and president Bap has praised him.

Danilo has a contract until July 2029 and has indicated he is unlikely to play again for Botafogo. He wants his future resolved before he is due to report back. This season he has 24 appearances, 10 goals and three assists.
