RB Leipzig have identified Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Röhl as a candidate to replace Marco Rose, according to Sky Germany. The 35-year-old took the Championship club from 20th in the 2023/24 campaign with the Owls now sitting 13th and averaging 1.39 points per game.
Röhl has impressed Jürgen Klopp, Marcel Schäfer and Oliver Mintzlaff with his footballing ideas, according to Florian Plettenberg, but the former Southampton and Germany assistant isn’t the only name on the club’s shortlist.
RB Leipzig have contacted the management of Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner. A meeting between Leipzig and Glasner’s management took place in London, while Schäfer also has a history with the Austrian tactician having previously worked together at Wolfsburg. On top of this, Glasner also has a history with Red Bull, as he was Roger Schmidt’s assistant coach when the German was Red Bull Salzburg manager.
But a hurdle in a move for Glasner is the coach’s release clause with Leipzig unwilling to meet such a high figure. As such, the Saxony club have also identified Schmidt, who is currently without a club after being sacked from Benfica, as a candidate to replace Rose.
