Dante has officially begun his new role at FC Bayern. The former fan favorite led the reserve team’s first training session at the campus on Monday.

Dante is back at FC Bayern. Just a few days after his official introduction as the new coach of the reserve team, the Brazilian took to the training field at the Campus on Ingolstädter Straße for the first time.

On Monday afternoon, the 42-year-old led his first session as head coach of Bayern’s amateur team.

However, the first training session took place behind closed doors. Dante wanted to use the opportunity to get to know his new team in peace and quiet and gather his first impressions.

For the former center back, this marks the beginning of a completely new chapter in his career. Just a few weeks ago, he had ended his playing career with French first-division club OGC Nice. Now he is embarking on his first stint as head coach at FC Bayern.

Dante Praises the Intensity and Facilities at the Campus

He will be supported in the future by Babak Keyhanfar. The 41-year-old brings a wealth of experience and has previously served as an assistant coach in the Bundesliga for Mainz 05 and Union Berlin.

After his first training session, Dante expressed his satisfaction: “It was a good start with high intensity. The guys were very focused and showed a lot of good plays. It’s a lot of fun to train and work on this facility. The conditions are outstanding,” he told the club’s media.

The Brazilian is also looking forward to his new role with great anticipation: “I’m really looking forward to this challenge and am happy to have been given this opportunity here. We all need to work hard right from the start to challenge and develop the players.”

First competitive match in just a few weeks

However, Dante doesn’t have much time to settle in.

FC Bayern’s second team kicks off the new Regionalliga season at the end of July. The season opener is scheduled for between July 23 and 26.

To prepare, the team will head to a training camp at Walchensee from June 30 through July 4. Among other things, a friendly match against Wacker Innsbruck is on the schedule there.

In addition, further preseason matches against Legia Warsaw, the Stuttgart Kickers, and SSV Ulm are planned.
