According to Glorioso 1904, Darwin Núñez has not featured for Al Hilal since mid-February and is determined to depart at the end of the season in order to return to European football.

The former Benfica striker, signed from Liverpool for 54 million euros last summer, has endured a difficult spell in Riyadh and is understood to have agreed with the club to facilitate his exit.

His situation shifted after Karim Benzema arrived at the club, a signing that led to Núñez being left out of the Saudi league registration list for the second half of the campaign. Earlier, he had already lost ground due to fitness problems at the start of the season.

The Uruguay international believes he needs to compete at the highest level at a decisive stage of his career. His priority is a European return to regain prominence and feel important on the pitch.

Financially, the stance is striking. He earns about 462,000 euros per week at Al Hilal, more than double his Liverpool wage, yet is willing to forgo many millions to leave what he views as a sporting nightmare in the Middle East.

This season he has made 24 appearances for Al Hilal, 16 in the Saudi league, six in the Asian Champions League and two in the Saudi Cup. Across 1,667 minutes he has recorded nine goals and five assists.
