Darwin Nunez has reportedly become a free agent after agreeing to terminate his Al Hilal contract, and Liverpool have been offered the chance to re-sign him without a fee, TEAMtalk reports.
The Uruguay forward joined the Saudi Pro League side last summer, but his stint has ended early. His status changed after Karim Benzema arrived, with registration limits reportedly leaving him unable to feature in the league.
Chelsea and Newcastle are also weighing moves for the 26-year-old as they consider attacking additions.
Liverpool are assessing options up front after Hugo Ekitike suffered a serious Achilles injury that is expected to rule him out for much of the coming season.
Nunez’s pace, physicality and pressing are seen as a fit for Andoni Iraola’s high-intensity approach, and he is reportedly open to returning. In his previous Premier League stint he produced 25 goals and 16 assists.
The absence of a fee makes a short-term move appealing, but Liverpool must decide if a reunion suits both immediate needs and long-term plans amid likely competition from rivals.
