David Neres fires Napoli to Supercup win over Bologna | OneFootball

David Neres stole the show as Napoli beat Bologna 2-0 in Saudi Arabia to lift the Italian Supercup.

It’s Napoli’s first win in the competition since 2014 and their third overall, while Bologna came up short in their bid for a first-ever Supercup.

From the off, Neres was at the heart of everything Napoli did going forward. He did hesitate on one chance when racing into the box from the right, opting to pass rather than shoot, but it didn’t take long for him to make his mark.

After a neat one-two with Rasmus Hojlund, he set up Leo Spinazzola, only for Federico Ravaglia to pull off a smart save, with Lewis Ferguson almost clearing off the line.

Then, in the 38th minute, Neres finally opened the scoring. Picking up a throw-in near the right corner of the box, he switched onto his left foot and curled a lovely shot into the corner.

The Brazilian kept up the pressure in the second half, and just as Bologna looked to get back into the game, he pounced on a mistake by Ravaglia and Jhon Lucumí to lob the goalkeeper and make it 2-0.

Napoli could have added more, but the Rossoblu never really threatened after that. The Supercup win is a welcome boost for Antonio Conte and his side, offering a bit of cheer in an otherwise uneven season so far.
