The Owls' preferred bidder has released a new message to supporters
Sheffield Wednesday’s long, bruising season is edging towards its conclusion, but the focus around Hillsborough has already shifted firmly onto what comes next.
The mood is amongst Owls fans is not one of simple resignation. Instead, it is shaped by anticipation - cautious, but unmistakably present.
The looming takeover deadline of May 1st has reframed the Owls’ narrative, shifting attention away from what has been lost this season and towards what might still be rebuilt in the next.
Every update has taken on added significance as the proposed deal involving David Storch edges closer to completion.
With a hard deadline approaching in a matter of hours - and the possibility of further complications should it be missed - the situation has reached a point where even the smallest signals carry weight for Wednesday fans.

Incumbent Owls owner Storch has kept a relatively open line of communication with supporters throughout the process, and his latest social media post will only add to the sense that something significant is imminent.
Posting on X, the American businessman revealed he was en route to South Yorkshire, writing:
“On my way up to Sheffield ... the only place I'd rather be than Honolulu. @MayorRickHNL we should do it together sometime #WAWAW #honoluluwednesday #swfc”
The reference to Sheffield - alongside a tongue-in-cheek nod to Honolulu and its mayor Rick Blangiardi, who wished the Owls well this week - lands at a moment when timing is everything.
Storch arrived in the UK earlier in the week ahead of a proposed Friday completion date for the takeover, with the deal needing to be finalised before a key 1 May deadline to avoid potential delays involving regulatory oversight.
Reports on Wednesday suggested legal processes had advanced significantly, including steps to secure Hillsborough Stadium as an asset as part of the agreement.
Should everything proceed as planned, Storch is then set to attend Saturday’s Championship clash with West Bromwich Albion - a fixture that could mark the symbolic beginning of a new era for Sheffield Wednesday.
His latest message, while light-hearted on the surface, reinforces the immediacy of the situation.
This is no longer a distant proposal or theoretical bid; it is a process entering its final hours, with the prospective owner potentially physically on his way to close it.

Wednesday’s campaign has been one of the bleakest in modern English football - relegation, administration and just one league win all season under the former ownership of Dejphon Chansiri.
The idea of a sold-out Hillsborough hosting both a carnival atmosphere for it's season closer and the possible unveiling of new ownership feels almost surreal, in that context.
Supporters have already committed to “Honolulu Wednesday” - fan-led celebration inspired by a chant that has become synonymous with the Owls’ resistance - and Storch’s message leans directly into that summery, celebratory mood.
But beyond the optics, the substance remains critical. The takeover must still clear final hurdles, including EFL approval, while questions linger over potential sanctions - notably a possible 15-point deduction next season tied to creditor repayments.
Even so, Storch’s visible presence, warmth and willingness thus far to engage has already distinguished him from what came before.
For a fanbase that has endured months of uncertainty, that alone feels day and night.
As Wednesday prepare to close the chapter on a historically difficult season, the story does not end with relegation alone.
Instead, it builds towards something more uncertain - but, for the first time in a while, something that resembles hope. The signs, so far at least, are encouraging.
