The club said in a statement on Monday that Davide Ancelotti will take charge of Lille next season, signing a two-year contract to 2028 to replace Bruno Genesio.

The club's return to the Champions League was decisive in sealing the agreement. The appointment was a direct request from president Olivier Létang, who has a longstanding relationship with Carlo Ancelotti from their time together at PSG.

Davide, son of Carlo, arrives after years as his assistant at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Everton. He had his first spell as a head coach at Botafogo in 2025, finishing sixth in Brazil and securing Copa Libertadores qualification.

Before moving to France he had been assistant with Brazil as they prepared for the 2026 World Cup. As an assistant at Real Madrid he collected Champions League titles in 2022 and 2024, plus the Club World Cup and Intercontinental Cup.

Born in Parma, he is multilingual, speaking Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and English. This will be his first European job as a head coach, his second as a number one.

A former AC Milan academy player, he moved early into coaching, joining PSG's staff as a fitness coach during a title-winning campaign, where he first worked with Létang.
