Dayot Upamecano praised by France greats, a modern heir to Marcel Desailly | OneFootball

Former France defenders say Dayot Upamecano has imposed himself for Les Bleus in the United States. L'Équipe reports that his dominance has left them impressed.

In September 2020 in Solna, the shirt felt heavy on a 21-year-old debutant. Since then, the Bayern centre-back has taken his club form into France duty, from Qatar 2022 to Germany 2024 and now the United States.

For Lilian Thuram, centre-backs reach the top through individual qualities and the partnership at the back. He believes Upamecano loves defending and has advanced through his connection with Saliba, because in central defence you are never truly alone.
