Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi has challenged Savio to score between 10 and 12 goals this season after the winger marked his debut with two goals in Spurs’ 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Charlton.
Savio enjoyed a dream start to his Tottenham career, with De Zerbi pleased to see the Brazilian make an immediate impact in front of goal.
However, the Spurs boss believes increasing his goalscoring output is the biggest area in which the winger can improve.
“It was a perfect day for him,” De Zerbi said.
“I think his biggest step, his biggest improvement is to increase the number of goals.
“As qualities, I think he is one of the best wingers, but the best wingers score many goals.
“I spoke with him yesterday, two days ago, and we put the goal on 10-12 goals because we need 10-12 goals from the wingers.
“Last season I think we suffered too much, also because the number of goals was not enough to compete for nothing more than that position.”

De Zerbi also praised another new signing in Mateus Fernandes after too impressing against Charlton, highlighting the midfielder’s versatility and ability to contribute both in and out of possession.
“Mateus Fernandes is another big talent,” he said. “We are lucky because he can cover two positions on the pitch, like a pivot or number 10.
“He brings quality, he is dynamic and he fights on the pitch because I think last season he was one of the best players in terms of regaining the ball in the duel.”
