Liverpool are reportedly one of the clubs keeping an eye on Bournemouth central defender Marcos Senesi after he informed his club that he’ll be leaving this summer.
The Argentine is due to be out of contract at the end of this season, and it seems there are a few names in the mix to snap him up on a free transfer.
Liverpool are one of those, though Barcelona and Atletico Madrid also seem to be keen, with Barca in particular seeming more advanced with their interest, according to TEAMtalk.
As we recently reported, Chelsea are also keen on Senesi, so it could be that he’ll end up staying in the Premier League.
For now, however, TEAMtalk report that he’s already confirmed his decision to leave to the Cherries.
It looks like Liverpool need to strengthen in defence this summer, so it makes sense for them to consider a quality free agent like Senesi.
The 28-year-old has proven himself at Premier League level with Bournemouth, and could do a decent job of replacing Ibrahima Konate if he leaves at the end of his contract as well.
Meanwhile, LFC also need to think about Virgil van Dijk’s minutes next season, as the veteran Dutchman probably can’t play 90 minutes twice a week for that much longer.
With that in mind, we’ve given Senesi to Liverpool a high score with our Transfer Fit rating system…
As a free agent, Senesi scores high for his transfer fee, and the high need for another defender in Arne Slot’s squad makes him a strong overall fit.
Admittedly, he loses points for being in the latter stages of his career, but his recent form and overall impact in the Premier League has been good, so he’d surely be a safe bet for Liverpool.
