“Defended with our lives”: Gibbs-White hails Nottingham Forest after Spurs survival statement | OneFootball

Morgan Gibbs-White said Nottingham Forest defended with their lives during the club's crucial 3-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur.

Forest weathered pressure from their relegation rivals before taking their chances to climb above the North Londoners and push Spurs closer to thePremier League drop zone.

Igor Jesus opened the scoring for Forest late in the first half, before goals from Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi sealed success for the visitors. A rapidly emptying Tottenham Hotspur Stadium booed the home side at full-time, as Forest claimed the points in a six-pointer.

Gibbs-White, a transfer target for Tottenham last summer, hailed a huge result for Forest and said his team defended with everything they had to earn a vital win.

"It's absolutely a huge result. There was a lot of worry going into this game and about the outcome. But the boys were incredible," the midfielder said, speaking toSky Sports.

"We defended with our lives today. We knew we needed to bring that fire, energy and commitment and the boys showed that in abundance today.

"I was delighted we got the three points because it creates some gap now. But we can't just focus on that. We need to keep looking forward and keep focussing on the next game.

"I can't say it was written in the stars (to score against Spurs). I am just doing my best to help this team. I have shown that since the first day of coming here. It's not been clean sailing. But we all stick together - the manager, the owner, the fans and the players.

"I am delighted to be on the scoresheet but more importantly, it's the three points won. Taking three points here and having a bit of time off now to get relaxed and get ready for the fixtures that is to come. I can't wait for a few days off now."
