Defender celebrates goals, eyes key Corinthians Libertadores tie

Corinthians won, on the afternoon of last Sunday, October 5, against Always Ready from Bolivia, with a score of 11-0, at the Estadio Nuevo Francisco Urbano, in a match valid for the second round of the group stage of the Conmebol Women's Libertadores. The result put the Brabas at the top of Group A with four points.

Defender Thais Regina, who scored two goals in the match and is playing her first Libertadores for Corinthians, celebrated the two goals: “I am very happy, right? I always had a dream of playing in the Libertadores, of having this feeling. Of knowing what it’s like to play in the Women’s Libertadores. I’m very happy to have scored the two goals. Now, adding up to three goals for Corinthians,” she began.

Next, she gave a brief analysis of the match and looked ahead to the clash next Wednesday, October 8, at 8pm (Brasília time), against Independiente Santa Fé from Colombia, at Estadio Florencio Sola, known as Lencho, in Buenos Aires, for the third round of the group stage of the international competition.

“Today, yes, we are satisfied. We could have done more, but we leave here happy today. This victory is important. They were two tough games, each with its own style, but we imposed our rhythm of play, and that was good. I think every game is important, as I said in interviews before the Libertadores, but now we have to switch gears because it’s a tough match coming up (against Santa Fé), so we have to be very focused,” she concluded.

Signed at the beginning of this year after a few seasons at Flamengo, Thais Regina signed a contract with Corinthians until December 2026 and, so far, has played 24 matches (21 as a starter) wearing the Corinthians shirt, with 16 wins, five draws, and three losses – a 73.6% success rate. In addition, she has three goals scored, one assist, and one title won: the 2025 Brasileirão, against Cruzeiro, at Neo Química Arena.
