Denmark boss Brian Riemer says Portugal could face a major internal issue once Cristiano Ronaldo eventually steps away, with the 41-year-old still central to the Selecao as they meet in the Nations League.

Riemer rejected calls for Ronaldo to make way, arguing the captain’s influence stretches beyond goals and minutes, and that he underpins the dressing-room hierarchy.

"He is a player, I think, people underestimate. They underestimate the importance he has in that squad. I believe that the day he stops with the national team, a big problem will arise in terms of the hierarchy," he told TV2.
