Dennis Cirkin has confirmed he will leave Sunderland this summer after an emotional message to supporters on social media.
The player said in a post that representing the Black Cats had been among the greatest privileges of his life, thanking the city and its fans while sharing a video of his time on Wearside.
The 24-year-old joined from Tottenham Hotspur in 2021 when Sunderland were in League One, and made over 100 appearances as the club climbed back to the top flight. He helped win promotion under Alex Neil, then emerged as a standout in the Championship.
This season he made 10 Premier League appearances, his last coming in the draw away at Wolves in early May. Injuries frustrated him again, yet he remains a popular figure among supporters.
Cirkin confirmed his departure before the retained list is published, and leaves widely appreciated for his role in the club’s return to the top tier.
