Departing Barcelona star receives €20 million contract offer from Turkey – report | OneFootball

Last month, Robert Lewandowski announced his departure from FC Barcelona upon the expiry of his contract this summer.

The 37-year-old superstar striker brought an end to a hugely successful four-year stint with the Catalans during which he won three La Liga titles among various other trophies.

While his exit has been confirmed, there has been still no strong indication of where the Poland centre-forward will play next season.

Fenerbahce appear with a lucrative offer

Now, according to Polish journalist Tomasz Wlodarczyk (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Lewandowski has been presented with a contract proposal worth around €20 million per season plus bonuses from Turkey.

The offer has not come from Fenerbahce presidential candidate Hakan Safi, who is running against Aziz Yildirim, in the elections set to take place on 6 and 7 June.

The 37-year-old forward, who has scored 120 goals in four seasons with Barcelona, has become a key figure in Safi’s election campaign as the businessman seeks to secure victory over Yildirim, the club’s long-serving president between 1998 and 2018.

According to the report, Safi submitted a formal proposal to Lewandowski’s representatives on Monday as part of his vision for the club should he win the presidency.

Despite the eye-catching figures involved, the deal remains far from complete.

Lewandowski has not yet made any firm commitment regarding the proposal, nor has he publicly expressed a position on the offer. Furthermore, any serious discussions are expected to remain on hold until the outcome of the presidential election is known.

Once the vote has taken place, the proposal is expected to be assessed alongside other offers that Lewandowski has received as he considers the next stage of his career.

For now, the offer remains an intriguing election pledge rather than a concrete transfer, with both the political situation at Fenerbahce and the player’s own intentions still to be resolved.
