The club’s owner urged humility for the step up to Primera División, yet concluded his address by naming Europe as the aim in the elite.

The owner of ABANCA and Spain’s fourth-richest man has provided the financial stability the club lacked for years, ending a barren spell that included time in Segunda División B.

Antonio Hidalgo struck a more cautious note: "El objetivo será mantener al equipo, son pasos que hay que ir dando poco a poco". He spoke to La Voz de Galicia.

Hidalgo will now lead a historic Spanish club at this level.
