Eiran Cashin has not featured for Derby County since their 4-0 win over Portsmouth

Paul Warne has claimed that Eiran Cashin may not feature for Derby County at all in January.

The 23-year-old has not been missing since the Rams' 4-0 win over Portsmouth in the middle of December.

The defender is one of a number of injury concerns that have emerged at Pride Park, with Ben Osborn, David Ozoh and Liam Thompson also out of action.

Osborn and Thompson were both unavailable for the 1-0 loss to Leeds United on Sunday evening, with the Derby manager providing an update on their potential return to the side.

Paul Warne issues Derby injury update

Warne has indicated that Cashin could be out for the entirety of January, as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, both Thompson and Osborn remain doubts ahead of Derby’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday this midweek.

"I don't think Ben will be available for Wednesday unfortunately," said Warne, via Derbyshire Live.

"Thommo did join in training yesterday but that was his first day, so it might be an ask for the Sheffield Wednesday game.

"It will probably more likely the Bristol City game, but we definitely missed their legs and drive against Leeds.

“It was a perfect game for both of them to be fair.

"Hopefully Ben will be back soon and Thommo, unless he falls over tonight, will join in training tomorrow.

“Cash is weeks away, so I don't expect to see him and don't know if I'll see him in January.

“We'll have to wait and see."

Derby County recent form

Derby have won one and lost two since the 4-0 victory over Pompey, Cashin’s last appearance for the club.

The Rams are 16th in the Championship table as a result, six points clear of the relegation zone after 24 fixtures.

Up next for Warne’s side is a trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday on 1 January in a 3pm kick-off.

Cashin’s absence is a blow for Derby

Cashin is a standout player in this Derby side, so his continued absence will be a blow for Warne.

Thompson and Osborn also being out of action won’t help either, especially with the tight turnaround in games the team is experiencing at the minute.

Derby have six games in January, so this could prove a crucial period that Cashin ends up missing.

Warne will be hoping that he is able to make a quick recovery, but the club also have to be wary of rushing him back, as hamstring issues can be easy to aggravate if not fully healed.
