John Eustace has deemed this Derby County trio surplus to requirements

Derby County are aiming to fight for promotion to the Premier League next season after narrowly missing out on a top six finish in 2025/26.

The Rams came eighth in the table, four points adrift of the play-offs places, but the competition will expand to include two more teams from the next campaign.

This will give John Eustace’s side plenty of confidence that they can compete for a return to the top flight, as another top eight finish will grant them a place in the play-offs.

Derby have so far completed two signings this summer, including the permanent move for Bobby Clark after his successful loan spell from RB Salzburg.

Charlie Taylor has also joined Eustace’s squad, arriving as a free agent following his exit from Southampton.

And the club’s transfer business likely won’t end there, with the market open until 1 September.

It has been reported by Derbyshire Live that the Rams are ready to sanction the exit of three players in Eustace’s squad

Derby are believed to be open to offers for both Corey Blackett-Taylor and Ryan Nyambe, who both missed the club’s pre-season friendly on Friday night.

Kenzo Goudmijn did feature in the second half, but it’s understood that his time at Pride Park could also be over this summer, with the Championship side ready to offload him in the transfer market.

Nyambe is currently managing a knock, while Blackett-Taylor is working his way back to full fitness after a thigh injury from his loan spell at Bolton Wanderers, but neither are expected to be out for much longer.

And all three are now surplus to requirements, with Derby optimistic that they will all garner interest between now and the 1 September deadline.

The future of Lars-Jorgan Salvesen is also reportedly up in the air, although no decision has yet been made regarding his future with the forward now in the final year of his current contract.

All three of Nyambe, Blackett-Taylor and Goudmijn spent time on loan last season, joining Reading, Bolton and Go Ahead Eagles, respectively.

But now the Rams will be seeking permanent exits for the trio, as they look to shed money from their wage bill and potentially even generate some extra revenue that could be put back into the team.

Derby begin their league campaign on 15 August with a trip to face Charlton Athletic.

It’s clear that all three of Nyambe, Blackett-Taylor and Goudmijn are not in Eustace’s plans, and they need to be moved on to make room in Eustace’s squad.

The trio all went out on loan last season, albeit Nyambe only left in January, which indicates that they are no longer needed at Pride Park.

But they all are still earning a wage, and are taking up spots in the team, so pushing for their permanent exits this summer makes the most sense for all parties.

The sooner that Derby can agree deals to move them on, the more quickly they can get to work on securing signings to come into the team.
