The Rams have an extremely busy week on the pitch that includes a trip to Cardiff City, and the off-field action is also heating up.

Derby County's season has taken a huge dive in the last few weeks, and their January transfer window has got off to a relatively quiet start.

James Collins joined Ben Radcliffe and Sonny Bradley in departing the Rams on Monday, with Lincoln City securing the services of the veteran striker for free, as per BBC Radio Derby's Dominic Dietrich.

Lars-Jorgen Salvesen remains the only new face at Pride Park this month, with the 28-year-old Norwegian joining the club from Viking FK for £800k last week. However, he did not play a part in Paul Warne's side's 2-0 defeat to Watford FC with the forward still in his own pre-season after leaving his former team.

Football League World has rounded up some of the latest transfer stories involving Derby, ahead of a huge week for the East Midlands outfit.

Eiran Cashin the subject of Brighton bid

Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have submitted a bid for the Rams' Eiran Cashin, according to Pete O'Rourke.

The Seagulls have tried to bring the centre-back to the AMEX Stadium on multiple occasions in the past, with the two clubs agreeing a bid worth around the £4m mark in the 2023 summer transfer window. However, time ran out, and the deal was never officially completed.

Derby have been dealt two injury blows to their back line already in the last week, with Nat Phillips pulling up against Leyton Orient in the FA Cup third round, before Curtis Nelson's season came to an immediate end after he suffered a knee ligament injury in the defeat to Watford on Saturday.

Cashin himself has only just come back from a month in the treatment room with a hamstring problem, and therefore a deal may have to include a loan back to the Rams for the rest of the campaign.

Derby join the race for Aston Villa's Lamare Bogarde

With Nelson now out for the majority of 2025, bringing in another centre-back will be a new priority for Warne, and the Rams have already joined the race for Aston Villa's Lamare Bogarde.

As per Darren Witcoop, Swansea City and a host of other sides from abroad are also interested in bringing the 21-year-old in on loan for the rest of the season, but for Derby it is now a matter of the utmost importance.

The Dutchman spent the first half of last season on loan at Bristol Rovers in League One after seeing out the 2022/23 campaign at the Memorial Stadium, and he has featured four times in the Premier League for Villa in 2024/25, as well as making an appearance in the Champions League.

Bogarde has been in the West Midlands since leaving Feyenoord in September 2020, and made his debut for the senior squad in January 2021 in the FA Cup third round.

Danish midfielder Oscar Freuler comes on to Derby's radar

Although the defensive unit now needs adding to, it seems as though the Rams are not lacking in their desire to improve their midfield.

A report from Soccer News Netherlands has stated that Derby are tracking Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Oscar Fraulo, with the 21-year-old currently on loan at Dutch side FC Utrecht.

The Championship club are looking for a loan-to-buy deal, with Fraulo making 12 appearances in the Eredivise for his team, registering one assist this season.

Warne has utilised the foreign market three times already in 2024/25, and it has paid off so far, with Jacob Widell Zetterstrom, Kenzo Goudmijn and now Salvesen making their way to Pride Park from Sweden, the Netherlands and Norway respectively.

Derby need reinforcements in the middle of the park with David Ozoh still not back in the matchday squad after suffering a setback to a hamstring injury that occurred back in September.
