Michael Olise struck a hat-trick in France’s 3-1 win over Northern Ireland in their final World Cup warm-up on Monday, and Didier Deschamps backed him for a key role at the tournament.

According to AFP, the France coach said the team would need Olise performing at that level and highlighted how his season at Bayern and with the national side set him apart.

Deschamps added that the 24-year-old is full of confidence after a standout campaign and praised his willingness to work for the team.

Olise, the Bayern Munich player, was named Bundesliga 2025/26 Player of the Season.

He has seven goals and three assists in 17 games for France, who open their World Cup campaign against Senegal on June 16.
