DFB and Red Bull ‘agree deal’ for Klopp to become Germany head coach | OneFootball

Jürgen Klopp has been given the go-ahead to become Germany head coach after weekend talks delivered an agreement between the DFB and Red Bull, according to Sky Germany.

He would succeed Julian Nagelsmann following the national team’s disappointing 2026 World Cup campaign. Klopp had long been tipped for the role, with his Red Bull position as Head of Global Soccer the final obstacle.

That hurdle has reportedly been cleared, with a full agreement for him to lead the team through to the 2030 World Cup. An agreement in principle on his departure from Red Bull is also in place.

The report says Klopp met Red Bull chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff at a secret location in New York on Saturday, where remaining exit terms were settled.

Final contractual formalities involving Klopp and his commercial partners are expected to be completed in writing after Sunday’s World Cup final.

If everything runs to plan, Klopp will sign his contract in Frankfurt on Friday. The DFB are then expected to unveil him later that day, with a press conference reportedly scheduled to follow.
