The DFB (German Football Association) refused to sign a letter to put forth Gianni Infantino as a candidate for another term as FIFA president.
DFB president Bernd Neuendorf has distanced himself from Infantino, especially after the Folarin Balogun red card affair, BILD reports.
Balogun was due to be suspended for the USA's last-16 clash with Belgium but his red card was overturned in a controversial hearing.
Further outcry came when it was revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump had placed a call to Infantino, regarding the red card decision.
Nevertheless, there are currently no doubts over Infantino's re-election – the Italian looks destined for another four-year term in charge.
Continental federations from Africa, Asia and South America have already pledged their support for him to be re-elected in March 2027.
