Following an oral hearing, the DFB sports court has reduced Edin Džeko's suspension from two league matches to just one.
Schalke confirmed via a statement on their website that a further fine of €20,000 was also imposed against the striker.
The Bosnian had initially received a red card in the home match amid a 2-2 stalemate with Hannover 96 on Sunday 15 March.
During the oral hearing which took place today, Thursday 19 March, Schalke 04 convinced the judges that the player had not acted recklessly.
"We are grateful that, in the spirit of the game, the decision was made to shorten the suspension. Edin presented his arguments very convincingly.
"We also thank Professor Christoph Schickhardt, who provided legal counsel on site, and his team for their collaboration in this case," said sporting director Frank Baumann.
As a result, Džeko will only be absent from Miron Muslic's team in the match this Saturday, 21 March, against SV Darmstadt 98.
