With the future of DFCO’s women’s section highly uncertain, the squad issued a joint message on Thursday criticising the hierarchy and calling for respect, the players said in a post.

Dijon are fifth in Première Ligue and featured in last season’s play-offs. The club could be without a professional women’s team next season after a proposed takeover did not materialise.

The message lamented that 20 years of commitment are fading amid the indifference of an absent leadership. It added that a side at the top level for eight years is being hindered by confused and casual management.

It questioned how losses announced at 600,000 euros in June 2025 have become a 1.4 million euro deficit despite efforts to cut costs. It argued that by seeking thousands or even millions, the presidency blocked any rescue, only to hand over the section for 0 euros, calling attempts to profit from a non-profitable arm a mark of deep contempt.

The players said learning of the section’s end through a vague statement rather than honest dialogue was an insult. Their message closed by insisting they deserve respect, that women’s football deserves respect, and that while others decide, they are left to bear the consequences.
