Ruben Dias, Matheus Nunes and Omar Marmoush are set to join up with the Manchester City squad on our Tour of Asia, Enzo Maresca has confirmed.
City’s new boss took an initial 28-man squad to Hong Kong as we kick off the three-match tour with a game against Inter on Saturday 1 August at 12:30 (UK).
The game is available to watch on CITY+ for subscribers globally, except in China and Italy, and will be Maresca’s first as our new manager.
Due to the FIFA World Cup this summer, several first team players will return later to take rest time ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
But Maresca confirmed that he will have three more players joining the squad, although they will not be available to face Inter as they have not yet trained.
“In this moment we have many young players here,” the Italian said ahead of Saturday’s encounter.
“Tomorrow three more senior players will arrive and slowly, slowly the others. I am happy working with the players we have here.”
Maresca says it is important that the players get rest with a busy season to come.
“We would like to [have them here] but they need the rest after the World Cup,” he added.
“Ruben, Matheus and Omar will arrive tomorrow late in the morning, so there is no chance to have them for the game.
“The others need a holiday after the World Cup and slowly, slowly they are going to be back.”
In total, City had 16 players at the tournament in the US, Canada and Mexico with Elliot Anderson joining during the World Cup.
Maresca believes that a break now can help his players be ready to challenge on all fronts.
“In terms of the amount of games you play, the more you play the more option to get injured,” he added.
“This is normal. It’s difficult to think you can play 60, 70 games without injury.
“We have to adapt and we have to try to avoid injuries but knowing it will happen.”
