Didier Deschamps’ circle dismisses speculation over links with Real Madrid | OneFootball

After 14 years at the helm of Les Bleus, Didier Deschamps is set, in a few weeks’ time, to turn the page on one of the most significant chapters of his life, as he prepares to step down as France manager following the World Cup.

And whilst the 57-year-old manager insists to anyone who will listen that his mind is solely focused on the United States, it is hard to imagine him not thinking about what he will do next in his career.

For the Bayonne-born player does not yet seem ready to call it a day. The question now is where his future lies – at a club or with another national team.

And whilst several options have been discussed and analysed in recent weeks, the link between the French manager and Real Madrid – where Álvaro Arbeloa’s future is not guaranteed – has been one of the most hotly debated. Rumours which, according to L’Équipe, have nevertheless been dismissed by Deschamps’ entourage.

A definitive position? Only time will tell.

In any case, the profile of the two-time World Cup winner would fit perfectly with what Florentino Pérez, the president of the Madrid club, is looking for. Renowned for his leadership qualities, capable of winning trophies and enjoying a close relationship with Kylian Mbappé (27), Deschamps certainly seems to tick many boxes.
