Diego Conde, long tracked by Sevilla, is set to join Real Betis on loan with a non‑obligatory option to buy, according to Cadena SER. The move is described as close and has been accelerated by Pau López nearing a switch to Gerard Piqué’s Andorra.
Conde had emerged as a leading candidate for Sevilla after the Sánchez-Pizjuán required a major reset in goal following last season. Ørjan Nyland departed at the end of his contract, while Odysseas Vlachodimos completed his loan and was due back at Newcastle United.
Sevilla still prioritised re-signing the Greece international, but Newcastle’s demands stalled talks. The club then revisited Conde, who sought an exit from Villarreal amid competition from Luiz Júnior and Arnau Tenas, though the Yellow Submarine wanted at least one and a half million euros.
That pursuit collapsed when Vlachodimos pressed his parent club with a final ultimatum and secured a loan return to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. With the Greek now officially back at Sevilla, Conde looked elsewhere.
After weeks of flirting with Sevilla, the Madrid-born goalkeeper is instead poised for Heliópolis. At Betis he would be vying with Álvaro Valles for minutes under Manuel Pellegrini.
