Diego López has a date for surgery after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury at the end of the season. According to El Chiringuito, the Asturian will undergo the operation in Madrid next week.
The setback came in the game against Barcelona, ruling him out of pre-season and the start of the next campaign. Typical recovery from this injury is six to eight months.
After the procedure, he will begin rehabilitation immediately, starting with physiotherapy, regaining stability and gradually increasing his workload.
Nicknamed El Guajín, he could not replicate the level he showed two seasons ago, although he finished this campaign with more minutes and scored once before the injury.
The intention is to return as soon as possible, with the flank left light by his absence and the end of Largie Ramazani’s loan. He is not expected back before December, and match sharpness may not arrive until early next year.
