According to Gremistas.net, Uruguayan playmaker Diego Rossi has been offered to Grêmio again during the current window, though the club led by Luis Castro are focusing on other targets.
Rossi, 27, currently at Columbus Crew in the United States, is considered one of MLS's most valued players and has European experience. Grêmio had assessed him before as agents and intermediaries present options that are reviewed by the market analysis department.
His contract with Columbus Crew runs until December this year, with an option for a further season. The short term could make any fee more accessible.
Even so, in recent weeks the board's attention has been on alternatives with stronger internal approval, leaving little likelihood of progress on Rossi.
Recruiting a creative midfielder remains a priority. Recently the club sought information on the Argentine Thiago Almada of Atletico de Madrid, but there was no advance because of the costs involved.
Brazilian-based options such as Raphael Veiga and Gustavo Scarpa have also been consulted, yet there has been no breakthrough for this position so far.
