Dijon have chosen not to appeal against their exclusion from national women’s competitions imposed by the DNCG, a development that should allow Lens to remain in the Arkema Première Ligue.
The Direction nationale du contrôle de gestion delivered the sanction on 30 June, giving DFCO seven days to contest it. The club said in a statement that it had not filed an appeal after failing to secure fresh guarantees.
After brief talks with potential buyers and an inability to provide solid new assurances, DFCO concluded it would not challenge the decision. The outcome includes the loss of Arkema Première Ligue status for the senior team and the withdrawal of accreditation for the women’s training centre, which the club described as a major disappointment for players, coaches, staff, volunteers, partners and families.
As a result, the administrative demotion of Dijon should benefit Lens. The Sang et Or finished 11th out of 12 and were relegated on goal difference.
Lens are likely to be reprieved once their case is reviewed by the Ligue féminine de football professionnel.
