Corinthians begin the second half of the season with a new mantra, solidarity, as Fernando Diniz prioritises collective work without the ball to restore defensive steel.

The first test arrives on Thursday at 19:30 Brasília time against Remo at Neo Química Arena in the 19th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. According to Globo.com, Diniz made that off-ball commitment his main demand during the World Cup pause.

The target is to recapture April’s levels, when Corinthians went seven matches without conceding, surged clear in their Conmebol Libertadores group and matched 1979 and 2014 for the best defensive streak in club history.

To illustrate the idea, he has cited the 2026 World Cup, using France and Spain. France served as a warning, with collective lapses against England when players failed to track back, close spaces or follow runners.
