Diogo Jota and André Silva’s parents in Houston for Portugal opener against DR Congo | OneFootball

The parents of Diogo Jota and André Silva are in Houston to attend Portugal’s World Cup opener against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday at 19:00.

The Portuguese federation said in a post on the social channels of its president, Pedro Proença, that it had invited the families to be present for the match.

The post described the national team as a family and said that having Joaquim and Isabel Silva at the first game makes that family feel more complete, adding that they move forward together wherever they are.

The fixture in Texas opens Portugal’s campaign.

The invitation follows a car accident on 3 July 2025 in northern Spain.
