Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence faces an increasingly uncertain future in North London this summer as manager Roberto De Zerbi continues to reshape the squad ahead of his first full season.
Despite a gritty conclusion to the 2025/26 campaign, where he helped secure Premier League safety, Spence is not a part of De Zerbi’s long-term plans.
As a result, the Spurs hierarchy will actively listen to offers for the 25-year-old, who has three years left on his current deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs’ willingness to facilitate a permanent exit has sparked immediate interest across the division, with several clubs keen on a move.
Everton are reportedly at the front of the queue as they seek a long-term successor to Seamus Coleman. While he is primarily a right-back, Spence can fill in at left-back when needed.
For Spence, leaving Spurs represents a prime opportunity to reset a career path that has stalled through various loan moves.
The ‘unstoppable’ defender is currently on international duty with England and was handed a start by Thomas Tuchel in England’s second World Cup outing against Ghana.
With De Zerbi eyeing a major summer overhaul, Spence’s window to fight for his position in North London appears to have closed, and a move away looks increasingly likely.
Spurs will hope Spence manages to increase his value at the World Cup, which would put them in a strong position to recoup a sizeable fee.
Tottenham paid £12.5 million pounds to sign him in 2022, but could hold out for almost double that amount to sanction a sale.
