It’s all systems go again for Eintracht Frankfurt, with the first session of this week featuring the new signing unveiled this morning.

It’s been a whirlwind start for Ritsu Doan. Around three hours after the announcement of Eintracht’s second summer signing, the winger got his first chance to show what he’s about on the pitch following the medical. His introduction followed the script as the players offered the new arrival a hearty welcome in training.

Of course, the faces aren’t completely unfamiliar to him after four years in the Bundesliga – one in Bielefeld and three in Freiburg. Least of all Mario Götze, with whom the new number 20 played at PSV Eindhoven. Doan has taken the squad number worn by Makoto Hasebe for a decade between 2014 and 2024, and the club legend made sure to personally welcome his fellow countryman before his first team training session.

Out on the pitch, the players trained hard, two days before their final friendly against Fulham in London. After three days off, there is a visible drive in the final stages of pre-season, which doesn’t stop for the weekend. The match-up in London is nestled between two more sessions – one on Friday before the flight and one on Sunday. After that, there’s just one week left until the competitive opener in the DFB Cup at FV Engers 07.
