Flamengo’s terrace passion hits the big screen as “Onde estiver, estarei – Uma paixão rubro-negra” screens at Cinefoot on Monday. The film follows supporters who lived the 1981 and 2019 Libertadores.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the programme at Estação Claro Rio starts at 19:30 Brasília time. Cinefoot is a Latin American pioneer and Brazil’s only football-only film festival.
Directed by Pedro Asbeg, it traces generations who follow the club across stadiums, roads and borders, celebrating the bond between fans and the game.
Cinefoot runs in Rio from 6 to 11 August and in São Paulo from 7 to 10 August, offering a free programme of 75 films from 10 countries.
In 1981, Flamengo were underdogs on their Libertadores debut, yet Zico and team won the continent and the world.
They did not reach another final for 37 years. Thirty-eight years on from 1981, the trophy returned to black and red with Gabigol and company.
The near 40-year wait broken, Mengo have since lifted the trophy two more times, making Fla the Brazilian club with the most Libertadores titles.
