Chelsea are set for a busy end to the week as the transfer market comes to an end, and they could be about to make two deals happen at once.
Pedro Almeida Tweet about Garnacho and Nkunku.
Pedro Almeida is among the sources claiming that Christopher Nkunku’s move to AC Milan for €35m is a “done deal.”
That move has come from nowhere in the last 24 hours and now looks almost complete. Almeida follows up by saying that Alejandro Garnacho’s move to Chelsea is also in process, with the two clubs in “very advanced talks.”
It seems like the Blues have been waiting for the sale of Nkunku to go through before green lighting the swoop for Garnacho, who they’ve had in their sights since before the window opened.
Of course it’s not as simple as one player replacing another like that, but also… it sort of it.
It’s been clear with both the interest in Garnacho and Xavi Simons that Chelsea wouldn’t pull the trigger until they knew they had a sale locked in. Nkunku’s move being so close has now unlocked things. Once he goes, Garnacho can come in, with the deal that has long been arranged finally going through.
Given Jackson is being valued at around the same as Simons and Garnacho the same as Nkunku, it makes sense to do it this way round.
Chelsea fans don’t object to the obvious opportunity to buy Garnacho at a knock down price – but they’re much more excited about the prospect of signing Simons. If their team end up with the former and not the latter, there will be some disappointment, especially if he ends up going to Tottenham.
