Dorival backed Rodrigo Garro after the Argentine sealed Corinthians’ 1-0 win at Athletico Paranaense on Thursday, praising his ongoing evolution.

As reported by Meu Timao, the coach told reporters at Arena da Baixada he was certain the midfielder could give much more, while noting natural ups and downs as he builds rhythm this year.

Garro started a third successive match, after featuring from the off against Red Bull Bragantino in the Brasileirão and São Bernardo in the Paulista. He already had two assists in 2026, a squad best, before beating goalkeeper Santos from range.

He missed the first three games of the year while recovering from scaphoid surgery on his left wrist during pre-season. Since then he has played in nine further matches, completing 90 minutes for the first time only against São Bernardo.

Dorival added that he hopes the recovery accelerates and wants Garro to keep this posture, citing the earlier assist against Santos and other moments as confidence builders. He said having Garro at his best would be fundamental.

The no 8’s strike lifted Corinthians to fifth in the national table with six points from three rounds. He is in contention again on Sunday at 20:30 at Canindé, when Corinthians face Portuguesa in a single-leg Paulista quarter-final.
