Dorival expects STJD verdict, slams Corinthians politics: "Not healthy"

During the press conference held after Corinthians' 1-0 victory over Atlético-MG at Neo Química Arena, coach Dorival Júnior addressed various topics concerning the club, including his trial for the expulsion against Internacional, which according to him will be based on statements from the referees, in the match report, that do not correspond to reality.

“What was recorded in the match report was not what I said. I should have been expelled, I overreacted, but not with those words. Respect. We are now going to a trial without the possibility of a more direct defense, that is a document, but it is not true. He said he had to request police to remove me from the field, but that is not true.”

Additionally, the Corinthians coach spoke about the influence of the political instability at Parque São Jorge on the football department. According to Dorival, no matter how much they try to shield athletes and the technical staff, it is “natural” for football to be affected by what happens off the field.

“I have already stated before, it is not healthy for any football club to have politics involved in our daily lives. It is natural that there is interference, yes. In one way or another, it will directly involve the squad, the staff, the club. It is a situation that needs to be resolved. It is natural for us to hope for the best solutions in all clubs. That politics become less and less evident in the daily life of all environments of all clubs. It is not healthy.”
