Corinthians’ 2-0 win over Red Bull Bragantino drew praise from Dorival Júnior, who hailed a sturdier back line and said full-backs Matheuzinho and Matheus Bidu now show the consistency to catch Brazil’s eye under Carlo Ancelotti. As reported by Meu Timao, he believes their form will certainly put them on the national radar soon.
The third-round win at Neo Química Arena on Thursday was built on defensive assurance. Gabriel Paulista and Bidu scored, and Hugo Souza saved Isidro Pitta’s penalty to draw level with Gylmar dos Santos Neves in the club’s ranking for penalties saved.
Dorival said the side have shown consistency even in defeats since last year, crediting collective balance and individual growth. He noted that when he arrived in April 2025, Bidu was third choice and Matheuzinho out of form, a situation that has shifted markedly.
He highlighted technical and tactical development driven by daily work at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava and a more balanced model. In his view, Matheuzinho ranks among the country’s best full-backs, Bidu has stood out in every game since last year, and midfielder Bidon is progressing impressively.
Even so, he underlined that the priority remains a strong collective, with squad rotation vital to sustain intensity across competitions. A deeper group, he said, enables players to recover and perform at their best.
Corinthians complete preparations on Saturday before facing São Bernardo on Sunday at 20:30, at Estádio Primeiro de Maio, in the final round of the Campeonato Paulista’s first phase.
