Jason Cundy wants to see Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes replace Enzo Fernandez, if as expected the Argentine leaves this summer.

Having appointed Xabi Alonso as their new manager, the Blues face a critical summer window which they can’t afford to get wrong.

Chelsea are said to be in the market for a centre back, whilst it’s thought they want to add another midfielder and attacker.

It’s not just incomings which are important, there’s also a number of players who need to be moved on, whilst there are others who want to leave.

Alonso will reportedly have a major say in who signs and who leaves, and he’s got some major decisions to make.

The Spaniard is thought to have made it clear he only wants players who are 100% committed to the club as part of the squad, with Fernandez very much not falling into that category.

Chelsea are said to value Fernandez at £120m, and the Argentine has made it clear he wants to leave the club after three and a half years at Stamford Bridge.

Real Madrid are interested, but reportedly won’t meet Chelsea’s valuation, whilst there’s been rumours of a player or two being involved in any potential deal.

Chelsea need to replace the World Cup winner, and were linked with both Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, and Cundy thinks the Brazil international would be an ideal replacement for Fernandez.

“And they [Newcastle] will, by all accounts, have to sell financially,” he told talkSPORT.

“I’m on board with that – that’s double thumbs up, that.”
