Maycon Cardozo, 17, the son of former Santos 2002 title winner Douglas, made his Bayern Munich debut in Friday’s 4-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach, playing 36 minutes at the Allianz Arena.
Vincent Kompany named the forward in a senior squad for the first time, days after he extended his contract to 2028. According to Globo.com, the appearance capped a route that began during Douglas’s spell in Thailand.
Maycon first stood out aged 11 in a Bayern programme in Thailand, selected among 25 from more than 20,000 youngsters mapped. He joined the club’s World Squad, impressed German coaches and earned an invitation to continue his development in Germany.
Approved by club great Roy Makaay, he signed a youth deal at 15. Progress followed through under-17s and the Champions League at youth level, then a recent step into Bayern’s under-23 side in Germany’s fourth tier against seasoned opponents.
Strong displays there helped earn first team training and Friday’s debut. Maycon is based in Munich while his twin sister Yasmin plays in Flamengo’s academy and has represented Brazil at youth level.
Douglas lives in Santos and has started coaching São Vicente’s under-20s. The former striker remains closely tied to the club that formed him, recalling the 2002 Brasileirão triumph alongside Diego and Robinho.
